Kolkata Police Constable Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates must be a citizen of India.
Kolkata Police Constable Qualification
Candidates should have passed the Madhyamik Examination or completed the Secondary Examination from the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education or its equivalent. Applicant must be able to read, write, and speak Bengali language.
Kolkata Police Constable Age Limit
Candidates age should be between 18 years to 30 years as of 01/01/2024. The upper age limit shall be relaxable by 5 (five) years in case of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes candidates, by 3 (three) years in case of Other Backward Classes-A and Other Backward Classes-B candidates, by 3 (three) years in case of Third Gender/Transgender persons and by 5 (five) years in case of Civic Volunteers.

Kolkata Police Constable Exam Pattern 2024
Preliminary Written Test (Full Marks – 100) :
Eligible candidates will need to take a multiple-choice preliminary written test. This test is important but you just need to pass it. It will have 100 questions with four choices for each, and each question is worth one mark. You’ll have one hour to complete the test. The questions will be available in both Bengali and Nepali languages.
Questions of the Preliminary Written Test shall be from the following subjects:-
- i. General Awareness and General Knowledge: 40 Marks
- ii. Elementary Mathematics (Madhyamik standard): 30 Marks
- iii. Reasoning: 30 Marks
PHYSICAL MEASUREMENT TEST (PMT):-
Candidates who pass the Preliminary Written Test will have their physical standards (height and weight) measured using electronic machines. For male candidates, chest measurements will be taken using a measuring tape.

FINAL WRITTEN EXAMINATION : – Full Marks – 85;
All candidates who pass the Physical Measurement Test (PMT) and Physical Efficiency Test (PET) will be invited to take the Final Written Examination, which will be organized by the West Bengal Police Recruitment Board. This exam will consist of 85 multiple-choice questions, each with four choices, and each question is worth one mark. You’ll have one hour to complete the exam. The questions will be available in both Bengali and Nepali languages, except for those related to the English language.
Questions of the Final Written Examination shall be from the following subjects:-

B. English – 10 Marks

INTERVIEW: – Full Marks – 15;
Only a few candidates will be selected for an interview based on their performance and merit. During the interview, candidates will be assessed on their general awareness and suitability for public service. Additionally, candidates’ ability to speak in Bengali will be evaluated. After considering the marks from the Final Written Examination and the Interview, the West Bengal Police Recruitment Board will prepare a merit list of candidates who are provisionally selected.

MEDICAL EXAMINATION:-
- (a) All candidates provisionally selected will undergo a Medical Examination at hospitals designated by the State Government.
- (b) Selected candidates must be in good mental and physical health. They should not have any deformities that could affect their ability to work efficiently.
- (c) Candidates will undergo all required medical tests as instructed by the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of West Bengal.
(d) The certificate of medical fitness will be provided by an authorized medical officer.
